Your temperature blanket guide from dream to woven in ends

June 2022 Monthly Craft Report

I started this year with a plan to get all my old projects done this year. We’re at the halfway point now and I’m not as close to finishing as I’d like. I did well the first couple months but by March I seemed to slack off the pace. It was probably because in March I’d started trying to do projects that were less done than the first couple months.

Rework of my project rotation

I had a nice rotation planned so I wouldn’t need to wonder what project was next when I finished one. I’ve tweaked it a little since the beginning of the year. I eventually will be writing up what I do in case it could possibly help others.

Summarized, I’m going to work on one blanket and the most urgent in one or two other categories at a time. I’ve prioritized the projects in each category. Then when I finish a project I’ll simply thumb through my pattern stack and pick the next most urgent project. This works for me because the reason I jump around is I get concerned that I’m not finishing the most urgent or useful things.

What I finished

The only thing I finished this month was the third Phillis & Marian washcloth out of the Knit Picks/WeCrochet Dishie yarn (affiliate link) in their new Colonial Rose color. I needed more dishcloths for the kitchen and that orange fit our kitchen color scheme. And of course I couldn’t buy them when I could make them. Y’all know how it is.

Progress I made

I have a bit more to report here.

2022 Temperature Pillows

I finished the first quarter pillow panels. They still need to be sewn together and a pillow put in.

2021 Temperature Blanket

There were 12 rows done on this blanket this month. I figured out a way to keep the bulk of the blanket in my yarn tote but it still makes me warmer when I’m working on it.

Cotton summer snuggle blanket

This was my primary non-website project. I managed to get my 4 daily rows in at least half of the month.

Wool-eater from Herrschner’s

I only did a couple rows on this, but it was with a color that only needed 2 rows. So it was exciting to get to a point where I was finishing colors. I’m halfway done with it, too!

New projects

I started a couple projects this month, too. The first is some knitted socks made out of Felici sock weight yarn. (affiliate link) The goal is to see if I actually like making socks after the debacle that were the socks I made Buddy for Christmas (that I finished in January). The second was a shawl I’m making with an Anne of Green Gables theme. Jury’s still out on whether I’ll like it or not. Both projects required some tearing out and restarting before I got comfortable with where I was. I really need to learn how to do a lifeline and start doing that. I’m not sure how the lifelines work with yarn overs, however.

July 2022 plan

It was nice having a tracking sheet to let me keep a record of how much I’d worked on each project this month. It’s also motivation to make sure each box gets filled daily. Once I get it ironed out I plan on offering it to everyone else for their use. I’ve found it’s helped keep me from jumping around to other projects to keep track of what I’m doing. That and my Knitting Buddy app are keeping me encouraged with progress tracking.

Website projects

I’ve been carving out more time for work, so I’m making plans for more projects to post about. This includes working through the backlog I’ve created of projects I started but never finished.

2022 Temperature pillows

I want to be caught up by the end of the month. That would mean that I’d be a third of the way through my third pair of pillow sides by then.

2021 Temperature blanket

I want to finish this blanket as soon as I can, but I other projects will probably come first.

Washcloth patterns

I have a couple of washcloth patterns in the works right now, one almost done and one in the planning stages.

Personal projects

I’ll be trying to catch up this month. I’m going to over-plan so that I don’t have to wonder what my next project is. I’ll link to the project sources when I finish them.

Blankets
  1. Cotton blanket
  2. Wool-eater
  3. Shell blanket
Everything else
  1. Toaster cover
  2. Felici socks
  3. cuff-down crocheted socks
  4. Anne shawl

I’ll also be reworking my Moogly CAL schedule in hopes to get at least some of that done this year.

Sewing
  1. Tablecloths
  2. bag
  3. quilt kit

I think I’ll try to keep working on my hand sewn quilt, too.

Woodworking

Yes, I’ve started in on woodworking, too. My current project is a workbench from the Orientation semester of the Hand Tool School. The plan is to be done with the base by the end of the month. Then I can start on the top and have it done by the end of September.

I’m also doing the planning for a table for by my chair and a step-stool for my work area.
