Create your own unique piece of history

A temperature blanket is a crochet or knit blanket that documents the temperatures of a given location over a length of time.

Planning one can be confusing.  But it doesn’t have to be.

I’m a bit obsessed with temperature blankets, myself.  Every December finds me starting or finalizing my plans to document the next year’s temperatures.  But I didn’t let my obsession stop there.  I also created this website to help other people plan their temperature blankets easier.

I’ve put together information in a way that’s simple, straightforward, and fun.  The less time you spend planning the more time you can spend crafting!  I’ll help you weed through all the options you find so you can actually start your project.

So if you’re ready to jump in and start planning your temperature blanket, head to my Start Here page to figure out the best way I can help you.

Time for me to report what I’ve done with my personal crafts this month. I ended up focusing more on my personal projects. This ended up pushing the projects I had planned to get done for the blog off to the side. I’m determined to get better about allotting my […]

July 2020 Monthly Craft Report

Welcome to the first Monthly Craft Report here on Stitching in the Woods! This is a new thing I”m doing to replace my Project Clean Queue tracking (though that project is still ongoing). In this report I’ll be letting you know what I’ve gotten done this month and what I […]

June 2020 Monthly Craft Report

Anyone who’s been crocheting or knitting long has run into the same problem. You see a pattern you just HAVE to make. After checking out the pictures, sizing, and maybe the “difficulty” level you look at the supply list. Then your excitement fizzles faster than a deflating balloon. You don’t […]

3 Methods to Pick a Substitute Yarn

Knitting Buddy is an app available on both Android and iOS devices. I’ll get into the features below, but its name pretty well sums it up. This app should become your knitting or crochet friend. I’ve been using it for years (it’s actually already on my resource page), but just […]

Knitting Buddy App Review

“Affiliate link.” The phrase is all over craft blogs. Almost every free pattern has some mention of the things. But what ARE they? And why does everyone mention them?     What an affiliate is I thought it would help the discussion to back up and define “affiliate” first. An […]

What is an affiliate link?

You’re looking at a new feature on my blog. I usually publish temperature scales that are directly connected to a project. This one isn’t. In this post you’ll find a Simply Soft purples and blues temperature scale. Well, two actually. Since they’re not connected to a project you can mix […]

If you’ve been working on your temperature project since January then you may be getting a little tired of your project. Congrats if you’re not, but it’s okay if you are! It’s pretty normal for me. If you want a quick project to reinvigorate you, then look no further than […]

Beaded Temperature Scarf

January is about starting new things, setting goals for the year, and organizing. One tool I’ve found to help organize my crafting is a website called Ravelry. In case you haven’t heard of it, it’s a website by crafters for crafters. On Ravelry, you can find patterns, yarns, and other […]

Organizing your Crafting with Ravelry

In June 2018 we found out we’re expecting our 6th child. (We found out in October that it’s going to be another girl.) I thought this would be a good opportunity to test out a pattern I had been eyeing for a temperature blanket. I know that there are quite […]
