Create your own unique piece of history

A temperature blanket is a crochet or knit blanket that documents the temperatures of a given location over a length of time.

Planning one can be confusing.  But it doesn’t have to be.

I’m a bit obsessed with temperature blankets, myself.  Every December finds me starting or finalizing my plans to document the next year’s temperatures.  But I didn’t let my obsession stop there.  I also created this website to help other people plan their temperature blankets easier.

I’ve put together information in a way that’s simple, straightforward, and fun.  The less time you spend planning the more time you can spend crafting!  I’ll help you weed through all the options you find so you can actually start your project.

So if you’re ready to jump in and start planning your temperature blanket, head to my Start Here page to figure out the best way I can help you.

I happened upon Shawl in a Ball online a month or so ago and was intrigued, so I added what was apparently the only color available (Soothing Blue) to my cart.   What pattern should I use? I initially found a pattern on Lion Brand’s website that I was ready to use to […]

I saw the Apache Tears stitch and it was love at first sight. I really like the geometric patterns it creates. I read a tutorial at Sarah London’s blog (check it out for more variations on the stitch) and started in on planning my project. I wanted my version to be thinner and shorter […]

It’s the end of March and I’ve not lost the drive to see my blankets through to the end. Granted I’ve not been doing them every day but I have catch up days to make up for it. I’m doing better than I was last year, because I’d already quit […]

Temperature Projects Update (end of March 2016)

Spring is coming to Indiana and spring means babies, right? Baby blankets make excellent baby shower gifts. As a mother of four, I can tell you one can never have too many blankets. Not only can they be used to keep kids warm, they can also be used as […]

(NOTE: The temperature shawl is the project formerly known as the temperature blanket. The temperature blanket now refers to my squares blanket.) My temperature shawl hit February, so it was time to switch to a half-double crochet stitch. This apparently proved to be my undoing. On the 17th I decided to […]

Temperature Shawl: February 2016 Update

I’m really liking my other two temperature blankets but it’s been bothering me that I haven’t been using the daily lows. As I was looking on Pinterest I found this Sunburst Granny Square pattern from Thrifty Below that I think will work perfectly for a high/low temperature blanket. As I was […]
