Temperature Blanket Central
On my blog you’ll find primarily information about completing a temperature project of some kind or another. I really enjoy talking about temperature blankets and like helping others get addicted to them, too. For me it’s cool to have a project that gives you a perspective on temperatures over time.
I’ve created, as far as I can tell, the most detailed resource on temperature blankets on or off the web. As I said, I’m very passionate about temperature blankets and really like helping others learn more about what can be a very confusing project.
My crafting background
Crafting has been an off and on presence for my entire conscious life. As a child my grandma taught me how to knit. I eventually lost that skill, though I’m in the process of re-learning it.
As a young adult, my crafting interests were latch hooking and cross stitching. I still enjoy both crafts when I have the time. There’s not a lot of that, though, which is why I’m still working on projects I started in high school. That’s getting farther away every year.
But I digress. After getting married to my best friend, Buddy, and having our first child, I decided to teach myself crochet from a book I bought. The first few projects I made were hardly noteworthy. I’ve come a long way since then, practicing over the years by creating blankets and scarves a-plenty for our kids, for us adults, for extended family members, and for customers.
Crocheting is by far my favorite craft. I’ve gotten pretty good at it and it almost always cheers me up to have a hook in my hand and a project in my lap. I then started to learn to sew (on the sewing machine and a little by hand), but I’ve not had a chance to improve my skills. Crocheting and knitting take up most of my free time.
Life beyond crafts (it does exist)
I live in the hills of Brown County, Indiana with my husband (Buddy), our six daughters, and our cat. My husband and I homeschool our daughters. My non-crafting hobbies include gardening (a.k.a. killing plants), reading, and cooking. It’s not a hobby, but I like to spend a lot of time outside.
Buddy and I are the co-owners and co-crafters of McLaren Family Crafts. I also blog at Hoosier Homeschool, a homeschool blog focusing on picking and adapting curriculum as well as general homeschool helps. You can also find me contributing to the running of Home CNC Resource, a website set up to help home CNC operators, be they for hobby or business.
